Now to the fun part! You know why you should take the time to create one, but now you need to know how to create one. This course will take you through some of the key steps in building your profile so that you can jump into making those connections.

When you have logged in to your account, you will be taken to the home page of the CAB website. You will find your name in the upper right-hand corner of the page. When you click on it, there will be a drop-down menu with a “Profile” tab. Go to this page!

Once you’ve clicked on it, it will take you to your profile. There you can see the timeline where your own posts appear, the different groups you’re a part of, photos, and any documents you may upload! You will also notice that your profile picture and cover photo are blank (unlike mine here).

If you hover over the circular space, it will produce a small camera icon with the text, “change profile picture.” When you click on this icon, it will bring up your saved files. This is where you are able to choose the picture you would like to use!

The first one is simple, Smile! You have to remember that most people do not know anything about you. When it comes to first impressions, all they can do is assume who you are and what you represent.

Your cover photo is done in the same fashion! Feel free to be a little more creative and fun with this photo if you’d like.

One of the primary tools on the CAB platform is the ability to post to various feeds in various groups. In this short guide, we will go over how to post to the feeds of various groups.

First, select the text block at the top of your “news feed”.

This will open the “create post”. From here, select the box below your name:

Session 3: Posting in a Specific Group

This will create a drop-down menu allowing you to select where to post. In this example, we want to post to a specific group, so choose “post in group.”

Then select the group you would like to post to and click “save”

And now you can post in the selected group feed and only members in that group will see the content posted.

When you log into CAB, you are taken to the home page. Here is where you will find all of the tabs that you need to navigate the site.

Session 2: Exploring the Programs and Members Tabs

Three of these tabs offer drop down boxes that give you more options. You will find that the Programs and Members tabs offer you most of what you need in order to connect with others and keep up with what is going on.

Choosing any of the programs that are listed will take you to that program’s page. This is where you will find all the information you need for each program and how to become involved!

When you choose to follow the “Groups” tab, you will be taken to all of the groups you have joined or have been automatically added to!

Session 4: Enrolling in Courses and Resources

The last tab on your dashboard is, “Courses and Resources.” If you have chosen, or been invited, to participate in a course for a specific program then this is where you will find that course. If you’ve enrolled in multiple, they will all have their own module to click on.

Finally, if you need to search for something, check your messages, view any notifications, view the courses you have in your cart, or go to your profile, then all of these are up in the right hand corner of your home page!

CAB offers a solution to notification overload by empowering users to customize and manage their notification preferences.

To access your notification settings on the homepage, go to your profile and locate the left-side taskbar. Look for the gear icon, the second one from the bottom, representing settings, and click on it.

On the settings page, accessible through the gear icon, you can manage various aspects like password and email settings. Additionally, you'll find a dedicated tab for notification settings within the left-side menu.

Within the notification settings, you'll find "Preferences" and "Subscriptions" tabs. Starting with "Preferences," CAB provides flexibility to opt for email updates and on-screen alerts for notifications.

Back to our two options at the top of the page, I want to highlight the “Subscriptions” tab for a moment. Maybe there are specific groups, discussions, or forums that you want to notify you rather than having all of them do so.

By clicking on this tab, you can see what you have subscribed to in order to receive notifications. If you decide you don’t want to subscribe to them anymore, this is where you are able to remove them.

We're about to post something on the newsfeed, starting on the home page. We'll choose a newsfeed tab, access the page where everyone's posts are visible, and contribute to the discussion by typing in the "Share what's on your mind..." text box.

The text box to share a post has four icons at the bottom. The camera icon lets you attach a picture to your post, prompting you to add the photo. Other icons function similarly, allowing you to add different types of content to your post.

The video camera icon lets you upload videos, the paper clip icon is for sharing documents, and the GIF icon allows you to choose from a set of GIFs to add a creative and expressive touch to your post. These icons enhance your ability to share various types of information and add creativity and fun to your posts.

The next part I want to look at is one of the most important when it comes to posting in the newsfeed and that is who can see your post. This helps make sure that the right people can see the information that you are posting. Directly underneath your name is a tab that automatically says, “Public.” If you click on this box, a drop down menu will appear for you.

You can choose who sees your post by selecting the "Post in Group" option. This allows you to pick a specific group you're part of, ensuring that only members of that group can view your post.

To have a private conversation or message someone directly, you can use the messaging icon located at the top of the page, indicated by a circle.

Clicking the messaging icon takes you to the messaging center, where you can view existing direct message threads on the left-hand side and initiate new messages using the new message icon located above the current threads.
